Participants will learn the organic, creative, and playful use of metaphors to facilitate subcortical processing during

psychotherapy. Participants will have the following opportunities:

1. To understand the purpose and power of metaphors
2. To learn a new way of thinking about the development of skills, resources, and therapeutic processing
3. To learn how metaphors can be utilized organically in psychotherapy to enhance processing and to empower inner resources
4. To explore the metaphors of the theme of the day, 1.0 Harry Potter

About Connie Johnshoy- Currie

Connie Johnshoy-Currie, Psy.D., is a Licensed Psychologist in Southern California.

Connie has been utilizing metaphors with her clients since shebegan offering clinical services in 1979 with her Master’s degree. Metaphors bring psychological processing to life and expand the capacity of the client while enhancing the processing in psychotherapy.

BSP Approved Consultant and Specialty Trainer, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Certified in BSP and EMDR, CISM trained, EFT Trained, IFS educated, and Developmental Psychologist.

Treatment specialty areas include PTSD, Complex PTSD and Dissociative Identity Phenomenon (DIP, DID), child and adolescents, developmental and structuralization internal work, parts work, and she works extensively with second responders (mental health providers).

Dr. Johnshoy-Currie provides a monthly Networking Consultation Group in both Brainspotting (since 2008) and EMDR (since 1998), currently via zoom.

She offers a monthly specialty consultation group for clinicians working with children and adolescents and for clinicians seeking to develop their competence in working with dissociative identity phenomenon and traumatic injury.
