About the Training

Brainspotting & Inner BlindSpot Work
Developed and Presented by Connie Johnshoy-Currie, Psy.D.
7.5 CE Hours Available
From Dr. Pie Frey, Brainspotting Trainer
“I am thankful to Connie for developing and teaching the Inner BlindSpot Work training, which was life-changing for me. Although I was aware of my health concerns, working with my blind spot really helped me see that I need to actively engage in and take responsibility for my ongoing health and medical procedures.”
What happens when we know something but still don’t see the whole picture?
A client may understand a pattern intellectually and still find themselves repeating it.
A therapist may recognize that something feels different with a particular client without yet understanding why.
We may find ourselves stuck, surprised by our own reactions, missing warning signals, repeating familiar patterns, or saying: “I don’t know why I keep doing this.”
These are some of the places Inner BlindSpot Work begins.
Developed by Connie Johnshoy-Currie, Psy.D., Brainspotting & Inner BlindSpot Work is an experiential specialty workshop exploring patterns, reactions, assumptions, adaptive responses, and aspects of experience that may remain outside conscious awareness. Grounded in Brainspotting’s Neuroexperiential Model, Dual Attunement Frame, uncertainty, focused mindfulness, and trust in the client’s system, this workshop offers flexible ways of working with BlindSpots while remaining responsive to what emerges organically in the therapeutic process.
In this workshop, you will explore:
How Inner BlindSpots may appear through repeated patterns, stuckness, reactivity, surprises, relationships, and areas outside awareness.
The relationship among awareness, adaptive survival responses, the unconscious, metaphor, and the 6 F’s of threat and trauma response.
How to identify and work with a BlindSpot and a VisionSpot/WisdomSpot without imposing an answer or outcome on the client.
Flexible Inner BlindSpot Work setups, including Double Spotting and additional Brainspots that may emerge through dual attunement.
The use of metaphor as a client-generated doorway into focused mindful processing.
Ways our own blindspots, expectations, assumptions, and limbic countertransference may affect clinical attunement.
This is an experiential training
You won’t only hear about Inner BlindSpot Work. Participants will observe a live demonstration, engage in experiential learning, and have substantial time to practice the work from both the therapist and client perspectives.
The goal is not to memorize a rigid protocol. It is to develop enough understanding of the frame to use it flexibly while remaining attuned to the individual client and their processing needs.
